Possibilities - Garden of Your Mind

Based on our experiences noting our multiple frames and questioning both our assumptions and practices, let's now consider new pathways for the upcoming school year and planning ways to let these ideas takeoffs. First, let's center ourselves into a thoughtful and imaginative places by remembering the great words of Mr. Fred Rogers in the accompanying video.

Tending to the Garden

Let's play a game to help us form our ideas. We will draw on the card game "Roger von Oech's Creative Whack Pack." The cards can we accessed in physical form and via an iPhone app. Gather with others in this community to do the following:

  1. Discuss your basic ideas

  2. Ask each other questions from the Whackpack. You will have at least one card from each suit:

    • Blue - Explorer: to help you discover your resources

    • Orange - Artist: to help you transform your resource into new ideas

    • Green - Judge: to help you evaluate your ideas

    • Maroon - Judge: to help you consider how you will implement your idea

Take-offs and Take-aways

Let's try to put it all together now. What does your idea look like now? Let's tidy up our ideas as best as we can to make it into something that we might refine and implement in our music learning spaces. Consider these questions

  1. What is your idea?

  2. Why does it matter?

  3. What will you need?

  4. What will students do?

  5. What will you do?

  6. How might you implement it?
